Med Modern Mediterranean | Healthy and Modern Mediterranean Dishes

Mediterranean cuisines are not new to us. In fact, there are a lot of places here in the metro that offers these types of dishes because of our continuous demand for healthy and delicious food. Started in humble beginnings, Med Modern Mediterranean becomes one of the talk-of-the-town restos since last year, serving authentic and flavorful modern dishes.

Just a little background, Med Modern Meditteranean used to be found in a small kiosk at Legazpi Sunday Market by Israeli-born David Tweg and his father. They saw the potential of opening up a restaurant to share their love for Meditteranean food. Thus, their first branch at BGC was conceptualized. Now, they opened up their second one at Ayala Malls Manila Bay where I was invited to celebrate on their first anniversary.

Med Modern Meditteranean features freshly-prepared dishes with no preservatives and artificial flavors. The menu of Med is created with a part of David Tweg's memories of childhood flavors while incorporating the on-the-go-lifestyle of today's urban dwellers. They have options for all the cravings whether you are a meat lover, vegetarian, or pure vegan. The menu includes salads, sandwiches, power bowls, rice bowls, lachmajoun, and many others.

On their anniversary celebration, we tried the following:

Crispy Falafel with Hummus
I personally loved their hummus which is best paired with the crispy falafel. The texture wasn't too rough and the taste was really fresh and authentic.

Smoke Paprika Shrimp (P399)
This power bowl is made up of smoked paprika shrimp, pita bread, tabbouleh, bulgar wheat, Israeli salad, fried eggplant, and lemon and garlic sauce. The entire serving is good for one but can also be shared for a small appetite.

Beetroot Falafel Crunch (P329)
Instead of hummus, this one was substituted with Meditteranean rice. The bowl has crunchy falafel, tabbouleh, corn salad, fried eggplant, beet salad, and tahini sauce. You may add feta cheese or hard-boiled eggs for an additional price.

Chicken Salsa Pizza (P249)
This is Turkish-style pizza with spicy matbukha base topped mozzarella, levantine chicken, red bell pepper, sumac onion, and fried eggplant. I just loved the taste of this pizza which I haven't tried in any other pizza place out there. Plus factor, it's healthy!

DIY Bowl
You can also customize Med's bowl depends on your preferences. I tried mixing and matching ingredients to make my own comfort food. What I had in my bowl: greens, feta cheese, corn salad, shrimps, and paired with chimichurri sauce. So, yummy! I forgot how much it cost but I assure you, this is worth to try.

For drinks and desserts, Med also has the newest strawberry hummus shake on the menu and their baklava is another thing to order here. Overall, what I loved about Med is their promise to offer healthy, freshly-prepared, and modern Mediterranean dishes to everyone which is suitable for any lifestyle. This casual restaurant may be pricey but their offerings are beyond my expectations. They are indeed modern but still, home-style cooking is still present in every flavor.
