The Colonial | The Spanish-Inspired Bed & Breakfast in Puerto Princesa

Puerto Princesa is the gateway to the best spots in Palawan islands. We stayed there when we visited Balabac, and had a mini side trip on some of the nearest tourist spots. Since we only had a day before our flight back to Manila, I checked out where to book a place with a pretty ambiance. I'm such a big fan of bed-and-breakfast and boutique accommodations and I was so lucky to find this laid-back place called The Colonial.

The Colonial is so pretty and totally IG-worthy. It has a minimalist Spanish-inspired interior and exterior mostly designed with earth colors. It's quite small but overall, the vibe is very laid-back and relaxing, perfect for a quiet getaway. The bed and breakfast is also few meters away from the beach.

Getting There

From Puerto Princesa airport, ride a tricycle and tell to drop you off at The Colonial. The main landmarks are Blue Palawan Beach Club and Palawan Seaview Resort. It is also near Robinsons Mall. Tricycle rate is only P80-P100.

The Colonial has two floors with only five rooms available for booking: Twin and Queen Rooms. We stayed in the Twin Room on the ground floor area. We paid P2,250 with breakfast included and paid an extra P800 for the additional one pax.

Inside the room, there's a bathroom and shower with hot water, air-condition, and television. They also provided towels, linens, and toiletries. They also have this rattan-made closet for things and laundry.

They have a mini dipping pool inside the premises. You will definitely love the ambiance mostly in the morning where the sun strikes the area. The first thing that I've noticed was that it's like an inspiration to one of the resorts in Bali, Indonesia.

The Colonial has their own restaurant which is beside their mini pool. They serve as early as breakfast time until dinner with only few food choices. We had our breakfast here and they let us chose from their options. Their breakfast dishes are just basic but if you are too hungry, go get the rice meals. They also have mini bar if you want some alcohol or beer.

For the amenities and facilities, they have the usual offers like free Wi-fi in all rooms and public areas, 24-hour security, daily housekeeping, and airport transfers with an additional rate.

I must say that our stay here was worth it. The place is accessible and you can ride a tricycle going in and out of the resort for a minimum fare. I loved the peacefulness of the location, away from the busy streets of Puerto Princesa. They are also located near the beach if you want a different view. The only thing that I've noticed was there's no restaurant nearby. However, Robinson's pretty close so you may opt to go there during your mealtime. But overall, I'd highly recommend this resort if you are staying in Puerto Princesa before heading to the beautiful destinations nearby.
