Honolulu Cafe | Home of the Famous Egg Tarts and Freshly Baked Breads

The best thing about the food scene here in the Philippines is that we are getting more franchised restaurants from abroad. This is an advantage to us since we don't need to travel far to other countries just to taste their famous dishes. They bring it to us in just one or two drive away.

One of the interesting countries when it comes to food is Hong Kong. They have their own local dishes and also some with mixed flavors influenced by West and East. One of the original and oldest tea restaurants there is Honolulu HK Cafe established in 1940. They now have two branches here in the Philippines and I got a chance to try one in Robinsons Place Manila.

While there are a lot of places that offer egg tarts, you'll be interested to know that Honolulu Cafe has their own version with 192 layers of flaky and crunchy crust enveloped the moist, soft, and yummy egg pudding. On my first bite, it was indeed heavenly! I think I can consume an entire box of 6 in just one sitting. No joke.

Aside from the egg tart, we also tried other line of breads in their bakery. Everything is freshly prepared and baked on the same day to ensure the premium quality. All the flavors are derived originally from Hong Kong. You will get excited as you see them on the glass display arranged perfectly, ready for dine-in or take-out. I also heard that price of each is pretty reasonable, like P60 per bun.

Honolulu Cafe also offers beverage that you can match with their breads and pastries. I would highly recommend the Iced Red Bean with Milk and Hong Kong Style Coffee. Well, it depends on your mood whether you want a hot or cold drink. But, either, or, you'll still be satisfied.
In case you want to extend your food experience at Honolulu Cafe, take note that they are also a full-blown restaurant. You can have some of their best-selling Hong Kong cuisines in the menu. You can try their curry, yangchow rice, and the famous baked rice!
