Bistro Manuel | Hidden Fine-Dining Place in Poblacion

We all know that Poblacion is the place for travelers, bar hoppers, and food trippers. Every corner of the street is ready to be discovered. I may be a bit stranger to this area since it's too far away to where I reside but I'm always willing to revisit this place when I have a chance. And then one Saturday morning, I set my foot here again to try a hidden fine-dining place along the street of B. Valdez.

Bistro Manuel is the brainchild of Chef Ariel and Mia Manuel. Their main offerings are Best of Lolo Dad's new contemporary dishes to impress a great dining experience to their customers. They opened in 2016 in Poblacion, Makati to bring back the legacy of Lolo Dad's food trend in Metro Manila.

The location of Bistro Manuel is quite hidden compare to the surrounding bars and hostels in the area. For you to easily access where they are located, you may refer to Waze or Google Map.

Bistro Manuel's place is very laid-back and simple, perfect for intimate gatherings, family affairs, or any celebration. I found the interior design very simple, with tables and chairs neatly arranged depends on the number of dining in customers. It doesn't look too intimating compare to other fine-dining restaurants. They also have a function room for private events. Another interesting spot inside is that you can see the chefs in action, preparing your appetizing and delicious meals.

On the menu, we tried several best-selling dishes and some of Chef Manuel's recommendation.

These are bite-sized appetizers and freshly baked bread with butter.

Double Espresso Soup (P295)
I was so amazed by the serving of their soups in the small bowls. It was actually fulfilling. I preferred the tomato over mushroom flavor.

Romaine Caesar Salad (P380)
A simple salad made with romaine lettuce, crispy pancetta and six-minute boiled egg in anchovy, lemon, and Parmesan cheese dressing.

Hot Caprese Salad (P320)
If you like arugula in a salad, then this is for you. It has gratinated carabao's milk cheese and baby tomatoes with pesto, and balsamic. Take note: their vegetables are all organic.

Lolo Dad's Cafe Baked Oyster with Foie Gras (P230/pc)
One of my favorites! It was surprisingly good. The baked oyster was mixed with angel hair pasta and parmesan cheese and yet the best combination ever.

To cleanse off our palate, the chef offered this to us as part of the compliments.

Mild Spice Arrabiata  (P550)
I loved how it looked so appetizing! It is a tomato-based pasta season with basil, garlic, and chili flakes. It wasn't too spicy as I was expecting it.

Lamb Shawarma Grilled Pizza (P700)
This was my first time to try a lamb in a pizza and my experience was memorable. This pizza is best paired with yogurt and chili dip.

"Only for the Rich" Pizza (P1,290)
Do you know why this is called such a name? Its because it has all the expensive ingredients like lobster, foie gras, scallops, prosciutto, and smoked salmon. On top of the pizza, there's carabao's milk cheese and truffled tomato sauce. Yasss! It was too glorious to eat.

Pan-fried Fillet of Salmon (P695)
An ample size salmon with caramelized onion, potatoes, and bacon butter sauce. If you love eating fish, you will surely crave for this.

Lamb and Lamb with Lamb (P860)
The lamb-ception! The lamb meats are cooked in three ways: roast lamb rump, stewed lamb breast, and fried lamb sweetbread. It is also served with sieved potatoes.

Seared Scallops and Scampi (P990)
We were wondering where's the pasta. It was actually served in a small serving which we hardly noticed it. The whole dish was soooo good, actually especially the luscious seafood.

US Rib-Eye Prime Steak (P2,200)
If this didn't make you drool, I don't know what will. This 300g of premium meat was grilled medium-rare with truffled mushrooms on the side.

Now, for the desserts (our favorite part), we tried their best and mouthwatering sweets. I love the extra effort in every dessert, just look at my photos.

If you are looking for a nice and intimate place in Makati, you may want to add Bisto Manuel to your bucket list. Trust me, you will surely love this place as much as I did. You won't regret every taste of every dish, and the whole intimate experience. I vouch for it! After dining in, Bistro Manuel became one of my favorite restos in Poblacion, Makati.
