Araneta City | The Giant Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Araneta City has changed a lot. I used to live and work here for three years and I kinda missed the place. During my college days, my friends and I also used to hang out at Cubao X. Oh, fun times! Now that I'm living in the North area, I can't help but to miss those memories that I was here.

Fast forward today, I was part of the bloggers to experience the giant Christmas tree lighting ceremony last November 8, 2019 at Time Square Food Park. Thanks to Araneta City, I couldn't help but to feel nostalgic.

Despite its ever changing landscape, there are still some time-honored tradiitons that are entrenched in the heart of Araneta Center.

First to introduce an outdoor giant tree lighting ceremony way back in 1981, the Araneta City takes pride in this annual tradition that attracts people from all the walks of life, from different parts of the country.

The iconic Araneta City giant Christmas tree has 750pcs. of 9-foot pine garlands; diamond ornaments some as large as 30in; 250 cascading lights; sputnik and strobe lights; and over 1,500 Christmas balls in silver and gold, as well as teal in line with the new colors of the recently re branded Araneta City.

More than the glitz and fun of the tree lighting, this event underlines the Araneta Group's commitment of giving back and helping those in need. The Araneta Group, in partnership with the J. Amado Araneta Foundation, pledged its support to UNICEF'S Alternative Learning System (ALS) for Out of School Youth in the country. UNICEF Education officer Ms. Giti Mohn was present during the event.

The night was fun as UNICEF National Goodwill Ambassador Anne Curtis headed the lighting ceremony. Other celebrities present were Binibining Pilinas 2019 Queens; Edward Barbers, former PBB Housemates such as Lou Yanong, Andre Brouuillette, Yamyam Gucong, and Fumiya Sankai; Idol Philippines 2019 champs Zephanie Dimaranan and Lucas Garcia; AC Bonifacio; and Dance Kids grand champion Lucky Aces.
