Kandle Cafe | A Lovely Hidden Cafe in QC

I felt jealous of people living in the south area like Makati or BGC because they have a lot of pretty restaurants on the list. You know, almost every day new restaurants are popping in unlike here in the north area specifically in Quezon City. But lately, I realized that maybe I wasn't just paying attention to know that there are a lot of hidden gems here, like the one I recently visited - the Kandle Cafe.

Kandle Cafe is a neighborhood cafe that exudes coziness and a homey ambiance. Situated in Tomas Morato area, this restaurant used to be a bodega that turned into a full-blown restaurant perfect for intimate dates, hang out spot with friends, or gathering with a family.

Fun Fact: The name of the restaurant KANDLE was coined out of sibling's initials.

The lovely ambiance of this cafe gives an inviting vibe to the dining in customers. Every detail is totally 'gram-worthy with rustic interior design while surrounded by glass windows to allow the natural light to come in. They also have an alfresco area where you can chill while sipping in with your favorite latte. To complete the relaxing vibe of the restaurant, the whole space is surrounded by different types of plants to give a more earthy and organic atmosphere.

Kandle Cafe has also a private area for events. The rate is P6,000 consumable which is good for 10-12 persons.

For the food, we tried a lot during our foodie meet-up. Kandle Cafe's menu has a lot to offer from especially comfortable Filipino dishes with a twist. According to the owner, everything is freshly prepared without any short-cuts to ensure the quality of the taste.

Black Calamares (P390)
I was curious about this one so we gave it a try. This is their version of classic calamares covered with black ink-battered and deep-fried with chili pepper. The taste was okay, not too impressive. The squid was tender, actually, but I think, squid ring is much better option than the squid meat that they used.

Paella Croquette (P290)
One of the best starters here! The whole serving made us full because each croquette was filled with paella, chicken, and cheese, perfect to pair with the spicy tomato salsa on the side. One piece is equal to three bites, totally sulit for its price.

Prawn Soup (P185)
If you are into seafood, you can't go wrong with this soup. I liked how the taste was very comforting flavorful in every sip. I think its fair for the price since the whole serving is actually good for sharing.

Palabok (P440)
The palabok dish with very generous toppings: mixed seafood, egg, and chicharon. For me, the sauce's consistency was too thick that the taste became a bit salty for the noodles.

Stuffed Chicken (P360)
I super loved this one because of the yummy herbed cream cheese that went well with grilled chicken - a totally healthy dish!

Cheesy QC Maki (P295)
It may look a bit messy but the taste was the bombed. Everyone of us agreed that this dish was the crowd's favorite. The maki is made up of salmon and kani, served with cheesy sauce and Japanese toppings.

Cheesy Piggy (P270)
My least favorite because the egg was not poached type. This is Kandle Cafe's take on the croque madame with a German twist. The ingredients are ham, egg, cheddar, jack cheese, and sauerkraut.

Red Velvet Cheesecake
The best of our meal is the dessert! It had a perfect balance taste of sweetness which was perfect to pair with the Blue Butterfly Pea Flower Tea.

Blue Butterfly Pea Flower Tea
Kandle Cafe is very passionate about serving this type of tea. The flowers are actually harvested from the vine garden outside the patio. They freshly prepare this with warm water upon ordering. You can also purchase dry flowers to make your own tea at home.

Just so you know, blue butterfly pea flower has a lot of health benefits like improving eyesight, hair growth, producing antioxidants for skin, and a lot more. There's no bitter taste unlike other tea variants.

Kandle Cafe is so perfect that as much as I want to keep it a secret, I can't help it. This beautiful cafe deserves to be visited for its pretty interior + good quality of food. I promise to be back the soonest.
