Authentic Hummus + Mediterranean Flavors | Hummus Elijah

If you are into a healthy diet, you can't go wrong with Mediterranean dishes. The combination of cooking methods and traditional flavors are the reasons why this cuisine is considered one of the best among other flavors. The ingredients often include olive oil (a lot of it), vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds.

In the vicinity of Poblacion in Makati, one underrated restaurant that serves authentic Mediterranean dishes is Hummus Elijah. You see, I've already heard good reviews about this restaurant for so long plus the fact that they also got high and positive reviews on Zomato. On their second branch in SM Aura, I've got to try some of the best selling and authentic dishes during their opening week.

Hummus Elijah ensures the authenticity of each flavor by having the true taste in their food. I'm not an expert when it comes to real taste but I must say that those I've tried had fresh ingredients cooked in traditional cooking method.

This branch in SM Aura can hold a small group of diners only. The design of the interior is very basic and straightforward. It's not as cozy as other restaurants in the mall, but the ambiance was less intimidating to dining customers.

For the dishes, I've got to try the following:

Hummus Elijah (P200 / P250)
You've never been to Hummus Elijah if you haven't tried their famous hummus. It's actually their best-seller and people rave about this dish because of its authentic taste. It's made up of tahini, chickpeas, and olive oil and best paired with pita bread. The consistency of the hummus was thick and had to mix well to get the full flavor. The pita bread here was thick, unlike other restaurants that offer thin like wrapper.

Couscous with Vegetable (P270)
This dish is considered as a Morrocan national dish. Couscous is made from semolina of hard wheat. The texture is like rice but Hummus Elijah added sauce and vegetables. It was saucy like curry.

Sabich Sandwich in Pita (P180)
If you like an on-the-go meal, then this one's for you. Sabich sandwich has fried eggplant, hummus, hard-boiled egg, and salad.

Falafel Sandwich in Pita (P180)
Deep-fried ball of ground chickpeas with salad and placed inside the pita bread. I liked the softness of the pita but I think, the falafel balls were kinda dry.

Iced Tea (P50)
Guys, believe me, but this iced tea of Hummus Elijah is so good! The taste complimented well with the main dishes. This was really thirst-quenching!

If you are a person who likes to start off a diet plan, you may consider having Hummus Elijah dishes. They are indeed healthy and price gives justice to the taste. This restaurant is considered one of the underrated and well-loved places here in Manila, serving the authentic taste of Mediterranean flavors.
