Newest Healthy Resto in Katipunan| Dahon Dahan

In my food journey, I almost tried every dish from all the places that I’ve been to. But do you know what I always crave? Salad. Not the sweet ones, but those healthy mixed vegetables with yummy sauce. And let me share with you one place that I just discovered recently called Dahon Dahan in Katipunan area.

Dahon Dahan is the newest restaurant I’ve visited that offers healthy dishes like salads, wraps, rice meals, and many more. They started their business way back February of 2019 until they developed their full-blown menu just this June of the same year. The main inspiration of the restaurant is the owners’ journey to eat healthily and sharing it with other people through good food.

Everyone will surely love Dahon Dahan’s ambiance. Dainty and chic as I describe it, perfect for your Instagram gaming. The interior design has colorful chairs and tables, decors made of hanging vines and everything is match with warm and cozy lights.

Health-conscious people will definitely love their menu as much as I do. For your reference, here are the dishes that we had tried:

Cream of Pumpkin Soup (P65)
You can start off with this delicious soup before hitting off their mains. It was creamy and satisfying but I was thinking if they should make the consistency a bit runny. Overall, the salad had a combination of sweet, savory, and creamy tastes.

Pakora (P75)
Pakora is a fried snack that first originated from India. It is made up of vegetables like cauliflower or broccoli with a crispy coating and garlic sauce. I loved this because I hardly tasted the vegetable.

Vietnamese Salad with Fried Spring Roll (P199)
This salad is composed of vermicelli noodles, cilantro, pickled carrots & radish, crispy onions, peanuts, tomato, and pickled cucumber. I liked the fresh ingredients that matched the taste of the fish sauce dressing. The only thing that I noticed was the crispy onions in which they became rather soggy after putting sauce and taste was a bit bitter.

Langkatsu (P169)
For the main dish, we tried this Langkatsu as suggested by the owner. Langkatsu is langka or jackfruit that turned into breaded katsu. It was surprisingly good and guilt-free. Taste for me was a bit bland but pairing it with garlic sauce made an improvement.

Pollo (P189)
A salad wrap with grilled chicken, beans, pickled onions, corn, sour cream, peppers, pico de gallo, and tostadas. The best thing about this wrap dish is their chimichurri dressing that enhanced the flavors. I’d suggest having the dressing in a separate container rather than mixing it together so anyone can put how much they want on their salad.

Drinks (P99/ P45)
We tried the Summer Special and Brewed Iced Tea. The Summer Special is very applicable for diet-conscious people because ingredients are spinach, cucumber, pineapple, and watermelon. However, the Brewed Iced Tea was refreshingly good. For sweetener, it's good that they are using honey instead of sugar.

Aside from the interior and food itself, other things that caught my interest are the eco-friendly stuff they also sell. You can find wooden utensils, bamboo straws, shampoo and soap bars, and a lot more. This is a great way to start the advocacy of helping out mother nature by starting the zero waste journey. Aside from this, you can also buy local products here which are available on the display.

Situated along Esteban Ave., Dahon Dahon is totally wazeable though they still don’t have signage outside. Parking might be a problem if you are bringing your car since they only have limited space in front of their restaurant.

Green is in. So let’s start the healthy journey by having greens in our plate even once in a while. With Dahon Dahan’s extensive menu options, it won’t be hard to convince your self. Just in case you are lazy to go out, they also have delivery options via Grab Food, Lala Food, and Food Panda.
