Fluffy Ice Desserts | Shari Shari Kakigori House

Japanese dessert is more than just mochi and fluffy pancakes. Kakigori or Japanese shaved ice dessert is also becoming a trend here in the Philippines. This isn’t a new thing to us since we already have the famous Philippine halo-halo and Korean bingsu as the first shaved ice desserts that we all loved. Now, this new place in BGC called Shari Shari Kakigori House brought this newest craze in town, offering IG-worthy Kakigori to indulge our sweet cravings.

Kakigori started during the 19th century and had a wonderful history of how the Japanese adapted the concept of this ice dessert. Though the ideas and flavors originally came from Japan, the business was first established and loved in Hong Kong with two branches in Causeway and Central SoHo.

The interior design of Shari Shari is very minimal and basic. But overall, I wouldn’t mind staying here as long as the air conditioner works well.

The main ingredient of Kakigori is, of course, ice which is thinly shaved by a machine imported from Japan. All of their flavors are also imported but currently, they offer exclusive flavors for Manila.

During our visit, we tried these best sellers which are good for sharing:

Matcha Cream Special with Kuromitsu
Surprising good! If you are a matcha person, you’ll definitely love this. That matcha flavored shaved ice melted in my mouth that best combined with kuromitsu and crushed cookies. Sobrang OA but one of the best desserts I’ve tried!

Sakura and Matcha Cream
This is a limited-edition flavor that combined Japan’s flavors - Matcha and Cherry Blossom. Sakura had a taste of something floral while matcha had an earthy aftertaste.

Melon Kakigori
Light feathery ice with the taste of fresh melon fruits. If you want a familiar taste, then you're going to crave for this variant. This is an exclusive flavor for the Philippines

If you are in a hurry and still want one, you can still order for take-out. They provide smaller cups and disposable wooden spoon exclusive for to go.

Aside from the best sellers I’ve mentioned above, there are lots of flavors to try in Shari Shari. The fluffy and sweet taste of Kakigori deserves a spot in our hearts. With Manila’s hot and humid weather, one will surely crave for this one.
