Whimsical Cafe in Tomas Morato | Pookaberry Cafe

Exploring the city is fun. You will get to discover new places out of small streets where you can find something fun to check out. Say, for example, this psychedelic cafe in Tomas Morato called Pookaberry Cafe.

The ambiance is inviting. It’s fun and whimsical. Everything that you can see inside may poke your interest. It’s actually a WORK OF ART, considering that the artist had to fill in all the spaces with all colors. My artistic side was amazed when I learned that a well-known NY based artist named Peter Marco created all of these. Along with his wife Jeanette, they conceptualized this whimsical cafe that serves different food options.

Aside from just being a restaurant, Pookaberry has the initiative to help Basilia Women’s Foundation where an amount of every purchase here goes to the women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. This is really a generous way to be involved in such a helpful act.

Now, let’s go back to the food. We tried the following:

Chili Mango and Chili Orange Jam (Price starts at P290)
For starters, they served this bread platter to us. A perfect way to appetize while waiting for the main dishes to arrive.

Paninis (Price starts at P220)
Their paninis are huge! When I say huge, it’s very fulfilling to tummy. They served us four flavors: Adobo, Bacon, Pork Loin, and Avocado. I liked the bacon and avocado flavors which are two of my favorite foods.

All Day Breakfast Meals (Price starts at P290)
You can have your favorite breakfast choices all day as they serve them here. The options that we had were Breakfast ni Juan, Uncle Sam’s Big Breakfast, and Vegetarian Option. Though it’s pricey for a breakfast meal, everything is served in huge proportion. If I’d recommend one, I’ll choose the Breakfast ni Juan because the tapa was juicy and tender.

Cakes (Price starts at P130 per slice/ P1,300 for whole)
Their line of cakes was surprisingly good and indulging. We had Very Pookaberry, Walnut Carrot, New York Cheesecake, and Matcha Green Tea. Everyone seemed to love the NY Cheesecake as it was sweet and creamy in a way that it was so addicting in every scoop.

Cookie Shots (P125)
Whether you want espresso, chocolate, or milk, you’ll still enjoy their cookie shots here.

Cosmic Cookie (P80)
Baked cookies in cute containers.

Very Pookaberry Ube Shake
A great refreshment to beat the heat. The taste was indeed very ube but not too sweet which I liked.

This cafe deserves to be on the spotlight, for having a fun ambiance, a wide selection of food, and of course, the initiative to help people in utmost need. So if you are in the area, be sure to drop by here. Don’t worry, the owner is very accommodating, too.
