Cheap Healthy Eats | Falafel Yo!

I love exploring dishes - the excitement and fulfillment of tasting the creativity of the different cuisines especially if those are relatively new to me. Being a certified carnivorous, it’s a challenge to go full vegan for a day. But since I’m on-the-go, I would definitely love to try it.

Known for being the restaurant that serves authentic Israeli food, Falafel Yo! gives us the taste of traditional Mediterranean experience. Located in Greenbelt and SM North EDSA, this restaurant caters healthy and satisfying falafel and salads which are true to its taste.

Believe me, but I haven’t heard about falafel not until I tried in Falafel Yo! This iconic dish is known as a Middle Eastern street food. Not unlike our usual street food here in the Philippines, falafel is healthy and part of vegetarian cuisine.

Falafel is a deep-fried ball made up of mashed chickpeas, Mediterranean spices, garlic, parsley, and coriander. It is usually a go-to-food by how they presented the dish inside pita bread with different veggies, hummus, and tahini sauce. Every sandwich is straight-forward to what it has.

We were all thinking if falafel dishes are made for a snack, but apparently, we were convinced that these meals satisfied our hungry tummy even if you eat whether lunch or dinner.

During the event, we were offered to try the following:

If you’re a light eater or a first-timer, you can try to have this Falafelito. It is made up of small pita, 3 falafel balls, hummus, white cabbage, chili, fries, and sauces.

The original falafel with flavors. This size is perfect for big appetite. Finish this and you’ll be super full. It is made up of big pita, 5 falafel balls, hummus, all salads, chilly, fries, and sauce.

For the love of spicy food, Ouch Ouch is the bomb! You’ll definitely crave for this if you are into spicy dishes. Ingredients are 90g spicy cauliflowers, 4 falafel balls, hummus, honey, hot sauce, and tahini packed inside a big pita.

The three choices can be upgraded to whole white bread for P19.00 only.

Flavors are Sour Cream, Za’tar, and Cheese. To enhance the taste of these, you can have them with different dips such as hummus, tahini, and pickled mango.

For the refreshments, you can try to quench on these drinks. I liked the Lemon Pomegranate because it’s sweeter and tastes way better.

Every bite of Falafel Yo!’s is satisfying to pieces. Whether you are craving for a healthy snack or just want to taste this authentic falafel, Falafel Yo! is here to serve. Take note: They are affordable, too!
