New Dishes Alert | Chef's Special | Tim Ho Wan

Tim Ho Wan is a Chinese restaurant chain that came from Hong Kong. In the Philippines, they currently have six branches that serve not just delicious but also affordable Chinese cuisines.

I still remember the days when Tim Ho Wan started venturing out in the Philippines restaurant scene, people were crazy falling in line because of their famous pork bun. I belong to those crowd who also went hyped to try their dishes. Then recently, I received an invite for a foodcrawl that Tim Ho Wan was included in the event!

Part of our looloo rendevoos, we visited this restaurant next after dining in at Mesa alongside with other fellow reviewers.

For this event, we tried the "Chef's Special" which is available for a limited time only. I would review them for the ones I liked the most to the least:

CRISPY GOLDEN SHRIMP BALLS

I really liked the crispiness of the shredded fried wanton that went well with the shrimp balls. Flavors were good, not too oily, and best with the chili & sweet sauce.

DEEP-FRIED FISH SKIN WITH SALTED EGG

Salted egg flavor has become a trend in chips as well as in fish skins. The crispiness of this was just right. I liked it so much but I hardly tasted the salted egg flavor.

SALT AND PEPPER TOFU WITH CHINESE VEGETABLES

I also liked this one. The tofu was seasoned well that created a good match with the Chinese veggies. The taste was light on my taste buds.

FISH CAKE LAKSA NOODLE SOUP

For me, chili was overpowering the taste of the soup. You'd love this if you like Laksa with flavory and creamy soup. I also found the noodles too soft for my preference.

TRADITIONAL STEAMED PUMPKIN CAKE

I think I found this dish a bit unusual because I have a love-hate relationship with pumpkin. I like it when cooked in a different style but not in a cake form. We all thought that this one was sweet but it was cooked differently.

All of these dishes start from P120 to P180 only which is quite affordable for a Chinese restaurant. I'm sure I'll come back for the two dishes mentioned above.

Tim Ho Wan's ambiance is very oriental with neutral colors of their interior, typical Chinese restaurant feel.

Thank you Foodee Global Concepts, Tim Ho Wan, and looloo app for the awesome Part 2 of our Foodcrawl. ♥️
