Torch-pressed Sushi and Everything Japanese | Aburi

We all have a heart for Japanese food. The exciting taste of their dishes cooked whether traditionally or with a modern twist gives us flavorful experience.

Three months ago, Aburi opened its door to serve Japanese food in the neighborhood of Quezon City in UP Town Center. They specialize in modern Japanese food like torching flame to the sushi to create exciting and delicious taste to the dish. This technique is called Aburi where they derived the name of this restaurant.

Luckily, I was able to try some flame seared sushi and other delightful dishes when we had our looloo rendezvoos here. Thanks to looloo app for inviting me over.

We were served several exciting and best sellers from Aburi like the following:

KYLIE JENNER ROLL

Crowd's favorite was the Kylie Jenner Roll. It's a sushi topped with Aburi calamari tempura and seafood dynamite inside. Everything blended well inside my mouth, it was notable and should be ordered if you are a first timer here.

SALMON ABURI

Salmon sushi topped with Aburi homemade mayo which all thought was cheese. It was torch-pressed to have an exciting and smoky flavor.

GRILLED SALMON BATAYAKI

I loved the smoky flavor of the salmon and mixed well with the veggies. Super sarap if you just prefer a light and delicious seafood meal!

LORENZO MAKI

Another best-seller from Aburi, Lorenzo is named after the son's owner. It's a delicious maki topped with crabstick and spicy tuna. I found this a bit sour because of the mayo, unlike the Kylie Jenner roll.

CHICKEN THIGH AND PORK BELLY YAKITORI

All of their Yakitoris or grilled meat in a skewer are ordered individually.

SPICY TUNA SASHIMI

Freshly prepared tuna sashimi. I loved how the spicy level was easy to eat.

SRIRACHA WINGS

For a Japanese resto that serves Chicken Wings, this one as surprisingly flavorful. I liked the mixture of Sriracha sauce and the crisp texture of the wings.

BEEF ABURI BOWL

Thinly sliced beef in teriyaki sauce topped with sesame seed. It's a bowl that will definitely make you full.

TOFU STEAK

We all loved the texture of tofu - it's juicy and soft.

DESSERTS (BUKO LYCHEE SHERBET & COFFEE JELLY WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM)

To clean the "umay" factor, we tasted their desserts. I liked the Buko Lychee which was refreshing to my taste buds.

Aside from the dishes that were mentioned above, we also tried Salmon Carpaccio, Ebi Tempura, Fried Rice, Wagyu Teppan, and Tori Karaage. We were so full after finishing up all the dishes.

Almost everything that we tried was super good but price points are bit higher though. However, if you are on a budget, you could at least try their Aburi Student Bowl that starts from P155. Also, they have Weekday Deals where they are offering certain dish at a discounted rate and a happy hour drinks special.

The ambiance of Aburi is mixed of an old and modern Izakaya place. Colors are so Japanese like red and black. It felt intimidating inside but staff were all hands-on and accommodating. Super thanks to Aburi for hosting us!
